Instagram Adds AI Song Creation to DMs
By the IGLink team ·
Instagram has added a new option in DMs that lets people create a short song with AI and send it to friends.
What's new
When you open the sharing options in a chat, there's now a create a song choice. You add your own lyrics, pick a music genre, and Instagram generates a track you can send right away.
How it compares
Snapchat launched a similar paid feature, Snap-to-Song, that turns message text into lyrics. Instagram's version gives you more freedom over the words, since you write them yourself.
Why it matters
- It's another sign Meta is putting generative AI into everyday messaging.
- It's built for fun, not productivity, a point some commentators raised.
- Expect AI songs to show up in reels and Stories next.
