What is the Instagram Reels Downloader?
A reel is Instagram's short vertical video format. Reels can now be recorded up to 20 minutes long, although Instagram only recommends reels under 3 minutes to new audiences. When you save a reel inside the app, it only goes to your private Saved folder, and it disappears if the creator deletes it. This tool gives you the actual video file so you can keep it offline, watch it on a flight, or use it in your own (properly credited) project.
Reels vs. normal video posts
Since 2022 every new video posted to the feed is treated as a reel. That means the same link format works for both. Our tool reads the short code in the link (the 11 characters after /reel/ or /p/), so it does not matter which one you paste.
Does the downloaded reel keep the music?
Yes. Reels are stored as one MP4 that already contains the mixed audio track: the creator's voice, the licensed song and any sound effects. If you only want the sound, use our Instagram to MP3 tool.

Can I download reels on iPhone?
Yes. Open the reel in Instagram, tap the share (paper plane) icon, choose Copy link, then open this page in Safari, paste and tap Download. On iOS 13 and later the file goes to the Downloads folder in the Files app, and you can move it to Photos from there.
Will the creator know I downloaded their reel?
No. We fetch the public video the same way a browser does. Instagram does not send any notification, and we never log in to an account.
Why does it say the reel can't be found?
The reel is usually private, deleted, age-restricted or limited to certain countries. Check that the link opens in a private browser window without logging in. If it does, try again in a minute because Instagram sometimes slows down requests.
What quality will I get?
You get the best progressive MP4 Instagram serves publicly, usually 720p or 1080p depending on what the creator uploaded. We never re-encode the file, so nothing is lost.
Can I download reels from a private account?
No, and that is on purpose. Private content is only visible to approved followers, and we only handle content anyone can see without logging in.
