How to Download an Instagram Reel Thumbnail (Cover Image)
By the IGLink team ·
Reel covers appear cropped on the profile grid, but the full image is 9:16. Here's how to grab it.
Steps
- Copy the reel link.
- Paste it into the Thumbnail Downloader.
- Tap Download under the image.
Use cases
- Checking how your own cover looks before reposting
- Building a mood board of styles you like
- Adding a credited preview to a blog post
Thumbnail vs. first frame
The thumbnail is not always the first frame. Creators can pick any frame, or upload a custom image. What you download is whatever they chose.
